What to Expect
The main focus of our school-age/afterschool program is homework, yet our teachers never stray from the fun approach that instills a love for learning.
Teachers start the school year by establishing good work habits. Is the child consistently bringing their homework home? Do they understand the assignment? Next, the teachers offer comprehensive guidance and tutorials but do not correct homework to ensure the children’s elementary school teachers will have an accurate view of progress.
When homework is done, the children are free to read and complete their reading log. After that, we might offer additional worksheets for reading, writing, and math skills. Finally, children play outdoors or in our community room.
How We Communicate
At pickup time we ask parents to sign their child’s reading log and see what homework they completed. On Fridays we send home a weekly communication sheet.
School-age families use our Brightwheel app for daily communication, notifications, and billing.
Our school-age/afterschool children can take advantage of nearly all enrichment programs, including tutoring, Chinese lessons, piano, tennis, screen-free coding with LEGO, and others as they become available.
